Sheikh who installed Evian water tanks in the mansion accused of “reckless extravagance” in a lawsuit

A highly successful case going through the High Court in London sheds light on the finances and the extravagant and secret lifestyle of the world’s richest royal room.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the emir of Abu Dhabi, is suing Lancer Property, a property management company that ran his $ 7 billion property empire in London for 16 years to 2017, alleging that the company diverted over $ 40 million of property.

Lawyers for the Sheikh companies, according to the Daily Mail, claim that Lancer Property’s fees were “excessive” and that there was a “dishonest agreement” with the former head of the Sheikh’s private office.

Lancer, including founder Andrew Lax, denies the allegations and is responding for $ 16 million in unpaid fees for managing 140 properties in London’s wealthiest neighborhoods, as well as other properties around the world, claiming that the Sheikh was a chain spender. and compulsive.

The High Court heard of “reckless extravagances” regarding the Sheikh’s assets, which include around 140 properties in London’s wealthiest areas, including Mayfair, Marylebone, Knightsbridge and Kensington.

Among the claims the court heard, which were reported in the Daily Mail:

  • The sheik owned a castle-like property in Spain that he had never visited and didn’t even know where he was. When Lax inspected the property, he was greeted by 15 full-time employees who claimed that Lax was the first visitor in 17 years. In the never-used kitchen, appliances were still wrapped in packaging, and while the beds in the 11 rooms had never been slept in and the many bathrooms had never been used, the monogrammed sheets and towels were still washed weekly. The upkeep of the house was a whopping $ 600,000 a year.
  • Ascot Place, Queen Elizabeth’s mansion near Windsor Castle, was purchased in 1989 by the Sheik for $ 22 million. Although he had 400 acres of land, a lake, a grotto, and outbuildings, the sheik spent millions to improve the property even further, installing huge water tanks so that the water that flows throughout the house is Evian. Lancer asserted in court that “apart from the occasional visit during the day,” the septuagenarian sheik never stayed overnight.
  • The sheik also travels exclusively in “his own private 747 jumbo jet” and brings a separate 737 aircraft for his strong entourage of 100 people that includes a “personal beard trimmer,” according to the Daily Mail.
  • Other houses bought in London include Ham Gate in Richmond Park, bought in 1980 for $ 8 million. Although huge, Ham Gate was “too small” for royalty and his entourage, so the sheik tried to buy a neighboring property “significantly above market value”, but the owner refused to sell. In preparation for a Ham Gate party in 2013, “the staff were allegedly given four months to landscaping the grounds, cutting down mature trees, and replacing them with new ones. They were also asked to buy several nearby houses to accommodate guests on the night of the party and the following night, “the Daily Mail reported.
  • The sheik also owns Azzam, the world’s largest private yacht, which has indoor and outdoor pools, a helipad, and rooms for 36 people. It is recorded at 590 feet.
  • Lax claims that the sheik has ordered him to buy houses around the world even for short stays, as the wasteful sheik does not like hotels.
  • Lancer and Lax also plan to file documents with Sheikh Khalifa’s “alleged signature” that they claim “did not match the known examples, but appeared to match those of his brother Sheikh Mohammed,” reports the Daily Mail.

Since he suffered a stroke in 2014, Sheikh Khalifa has ceded daily control of UAE affairs to his half brother, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, known by his initials MBZ, who is the crown prince of Abu Dhabi. A similar situation is occurring in Saudi Arabia, where King Salman has ceded daily control to his son and heir, Mohammed bin Salman, known as MBS.

MBS has also tried to crack down on excesses while secretly spending billions on houses, boats, art and other luxuries.

Do what I say, not while I drive?

Despite their green schedule, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently traveled through Beverly Hills in a gasoline-powered SUV, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

Photos obtained by the Post show the former royal couple appearing in a black Cadillac Escalade.

Online reviews have called the low miles-per-gallon Escalade as eco-friendly as a car owner, the Mail noted.

The couple has previously been criticized for urging the planet to save itself from global warming, but to use a private jet for international travel.

Last week, in a video condemning racial injustice, the couple encouraged Britain to “promote prosperity, democracy and peace, amplify the voice of small states and protect the environment.”

The historic Southern California San Gabriel Mission, built in 1771, was devastated by a morning fire on Saturday.

There were no injuries.

According to NBC News, the nearly 250-year-old Roman Catholic mission contained many priceless artifacts that date back to its founding.

Much of the interior and roof were damaged by the fire, which is being investigated by the San Gabriel Fire Department.

Captain Antonio Negrete of the fire department called the scene “heartbreaking.”

Archbishop José Gómez tweeted photos of the destruction asking community members for prayers as repairs begin for the Southern California landmark.

Our beloved #SanGabrielMission, founded in 1771, devastated by fire before dawn. San Junípero Serra, pray for this land that you helped found.

Junipero Serra, who founded the mission, recently came under scrutiny for his colonization and brutalization of the Native Americans who occupied the land before settling there.

The Serra statue in Los Angeles collapsed in June amid numerous protests that erupted across the country calling for the removal of many racist statues.

Another Serra statue was beheaded in Monterrey in 2016.

A film school in California is canceling its John Wayne show because of what administrators call the late actor’s story of bigoted and homophobic statements.

The School of Motion Picture Arts at the University of Southern California announced last week that it would remove the interior exhibit, which featured stock photos and costumes from movies, accessories, and memorabilia.

The move was announced by the school via Twitter.

Wayne, who attended USC in the 1920s, told Playboy magazine in 1971: “I believe in white supremacy.”
